Can technology be used to fix the problems it has created?

 In disruption, society

Today in the Ask The Practical Futurist series we look at the issue of technology addiction.

At the recent Mercer Roadshow in London, during the Q&A I was asked “Will technology develop to solve the issue it has created (technology addiction)?”

In my 2 minute answer below, I explain how the creators of the major social networks will not allow their children to use them because they know how Oxytocin and Dopamine are released into the body as a result of the actions they designed into these networks.

I explain how in the near future we may start to see health warnings on devices to warn us of their addictive properties. I do provide an answer to the question – watch to the end.

This was another example of having to think on my feet. By deeply understanding the areas I cover in my talks, I was able to provide a concise answer to this question and many others.

Can technology be used to fix the problems it has created?
