Beyond COVID 19: The Future of the Workplace

Above is a full replay of the livestream from Adelaide broadcast on 21 May 2020.

Understandably, there has been much global discussion about Covid-19 and its effects on life as we once knew it. During the pandemic, our community focus has been on prevention, control, restrictions, safety, social distancing, isolation, and curve-flattening.

But what does our society look like beyond Covid-19? And in particular, the workplace?

Many employers have been forced to adapt their business models and approach to employees working arrangements. As we return to work, or in some instances, need to find new work, what are the likely changes we can expect going forward?

Join our online presentation as we talk to internationally renowned futurist, Andrew Grill, and Director of Flinders University’s Australian Industrial Transformation Institute, Professor John Spoehr about the future of work in the digital age, Industry 4.0, and AI, and the ways in which this new work paradigm can be leveraged for the greater good.

Pushing the Reset Button – Engineers Australia Webinar

Andrew Grill joined fellow Engineer James Bunn to discuss how Engineers can solve any problem on a webinar broadcast live on 29 July 2020.

The world at the moment seems to be in a state of constant turmoil. How can Engineers respond to the current crisis, and stay resilient? In many ways, we need to “push the reset button”. Engineers are well equipped to solve any problem from first principles. We have asked  two veteran Engineers from different disciplines to look at five separate periods in recent history where we have been faced with similar needs to push the reset button.

James and Andrew looked at five key inflection points in global events such as 1990’s Recession, 9/11 and  the 2001 Tech Crash, the 2008 GFC, Brexit and Covid-19 and explain how Engineers are uniquely equipped to survive any downturn.
